President Bachelet appoints new Chilean Ambassador to Australia

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, informed that the President of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet, has appointed a new Chilean ambassador to Australia, who has already received the approval. It is Patricio Powell Osorio.

Patricio Powell holds a degree in Journalism from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Since 1986, he has been a member of the Chilean Foreign Service, performing various functions in the Embassies of Chile in the United States, Singapore and Austria; in the Permanent Missions of Chile to the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Vienna-based International Organizations. He also served as Consul General in Toronto.

In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he was Director of Informatics and Communications, Head of the OAS Department and Hemispheric Organizations in the Directorate of Multilateral Policy, Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Chile "Andrés Bello", as well as having responsibilities in the Directorate of North America and Planning. At the time of his appointment, he was Director of Cultural Affairs.
