The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, participated today in Malta in the opening session of the IV Our Ocean Conference, which takes place in the town of San Giljan. The national authority took part in the "A Future Sustainable Blue Economy" High-Level Dialogue, where Prince Charles of Wales and Prince Albert II of Monaco were also present.

In his speech, the Chancellor affirmed that "the impacts of climate change are real and more powerful than ever and since the ocean is essential for the life of our people and for the economy," adding that "Chile is committed to preserving the ocean". He later moderated a Panel on Maritime Security.

Within the framework of the Conference, the Secretary of State met with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Malta, Carmelo Abela, who signed the declaration "Because the Ocean", an initiative promoted by Chile that seeks to relieve the role of the ocean in the global response to climate change.
